The Arizona Department of Transportation says a vehicle fire has closed Interstate 17 southbound this morning just north of State Route 69.
ADOT officials say traffic is exiting on the Arcosanti Road on-ramp and re-entering at the Arcosanti Road on-ramp. A semi-truck hauling eggs caught fire there around three o’clock this morning and crews are working to clear the southbound lanes of I-17.
There is no estimated time for reopening the highway at milepost 263. Consider alternate routes or delaying travel. Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed,@ArizonaDOT.
When a freeway closure or other major traffic event occurs, the free app is available at ADOTAlerts.com and it will send critical information directly to app users in affected areas – where possible, in advance of alternate routes.
