Arizona Rally Favors Reopening Schools To In-Person Learning

ABC15

A rally in support of reopening Arizona schools for in-person learning amid the coronavirus pandemic, drew hundreds at the state Capitol Monday night.

KNVX-TV reports parents and others wore green and demanded a green light to have students return. Many say they were concerned about social and emotional wellness and families who need critical support services.

Meanwhile, the Arizona Department of Health Services Tuesday reported more than 1,200 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state and 45 more deaths. Arizona’s total cases since the pandemic began is nearing 190,000. The percent of positive tests in the state – a critical indicator of severity – is 12.4%, which the state considers a substantial spread of the virus. Health officials say positive tests should be 5% or lower in order to reopen.
