AZ Poison Center Warns Of Hospitalizations Due To Contaminated Hand Sanitizer

The Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center received a spike of calls this month regarding hospitalizations in Northern Arizona due toxic alcohols, possibly in contaminated hand sanitizer. The University of Arizona says the calls came from Navajo and Apache counties and involved methanol, a type of alcohol not meant for consumption and not normally found in hand sanitizer. It’s believed the source may be contaminated or homemade hand sanitizers circulating in the affected communities.

If you believe you have been exposed to any poision, call the posion center immediately at 1-800-222-1222.
