Former Vice-President Joe Biden has been declared the winner of the Arizona Democratic presidential preference election.
He took a decisive victory over fellow candidate Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders capturing more than 43-percent of the vote with a majority of Arizona precincts reporting as of 5:30 Wednesday morning.
According to official tallies early Wednesday, Sanders had nearly 32-percent of the vote statewide.
The Associated Press has declared Joe Biden the winner in Arizona.
The state pressed ahead with its election in the shadow of the coronavirus outbreak that has hit the nation and spread around the world. Arizona Democrats helped push Biden closer to the Democratic nomination as he continues to build a delegate lead over Sanders.
Biden also won the primaries in Florida and Illinois on Tuesday, while the polls were shuttered in Ohio because of concerns over Coronavirus.
Some voters wore gloves or masks to the polls as a protective measure against COVID-19, but the overwhelming majority voted by mail, as is typical in Arizona.
