Cottonwood Man Arrested After Standoff With SWAT Personnel

Police say a 33-year-old Cottonwood man was arrested on felony charges Thursday after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement officials — including the Verde Valley SWAT team.

Devin Lee Sprecher was arrested after allegedly assaulting his domestic partner and refusing to leave the Cottonwood residence.

Sprecher had repeatedly injured his partner, who was “held against her will,” the Cottonwood Police Department wrote on its Facebook page. Police added that after hours, and deployment of “diversionary devices,” Sprecher eventually cooperated with authorities and was booked into the Yavapai County jail. The woman, whose name was not released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the CPD.

In August, Sprecher was also arrested on a weapons charge and released under court ordered conditions. Police say the court barred him from reentering the residence of his domestic partner, where he was found Thursday.

Yavapai County records show Sprecher was booked into the jail’s infirmary Thursday afternoon.
