Governor Doug Ducey has ordered flags in the state fly at half staff through Monday in honor of U.S. Service members killed in this week’s bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Ducey called the events tragic and said the decision to withdraw troops from the country has made America and the world less safe.
Thirteen U.S. service members were killed in the bombing at the Kabul airport and at a nearby hotel yesterday. More than 150 people were wounded.
President Joe Biden in a speech Thursday promised retribution for the attacks and said the withdrawal from Afghanistan will continue until its Aug. 31 deadline. So far, more than 104,000 people have been evacuated from the country including nearly 5,000 Americans.
