Ducey Says 150 State Troopers Will Get Body Cameras

Governor Doug Ducey has announced a plan to gradually begin equipping Arizona state troopers with body cameras.

The governor made the proposal in January but it was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic as the legislature debated an emergency budget.

“Increasing public trust and keeping our state troopers safe are issues on which we can all agree — and we plan to move forward on this good idea ... The men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our highways and communities safe deserve every protection we can give them," said Ducey in a press release.

Under the plan, private sector suppliers will provide 150 cameras to Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers in the coming months. Ducey says he’ll work with state lawmakers to fund body cameras for every trooper during the next legislative session.
