Last Chance For Asteroid Images Before NASA Spacecraft Heads Back To Earth

NASA

A spacecraft operated by University of Arizona scientists will capture images of a faraway asteroid for one more day before beginning the journey back to Earth.

The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will fly near the asteroid Bennu today, and orbit for about six hours, according to university researchers. The NASA mission was designed to obtain high-quality images of the asteroid. Researchers discovered water on it in 2018. The spacecraft’s trip back to earth is expected to take about two years, travelling more than 200 million miles.
