istock.com

The monsoon picks up again after a brief lull. Widespread thunderstorms and showers have begun across the state, with increased storm activity tomorrow, continuing through the weekend. Heavy rainfall is possible, as well as flash flooding events. The National Weather Service today put out current rainfall totals from this season’s monsoon, compared to last: In 2020, Flagstaff Pulliam Airport recorded less than 2 inches of rain. This year, it’s over 6 inches. Show low has recorded the most rain so far this year with more than 8 inches. Snowflake has received close to 6 inches, Williams 7. Page shows the least amount of rainfall this season with just over 1 inch so far. Last year, Page received less than half an inch.
