New Lockdown Order Goes Into Effect On Navajo Nation

NNOPVP

A new public health emergency order goes into effect Monday on the Navajo Nation.

It extends a stay-at-home lockdown allowing residents to leave home only in emergency situations or to obtain food, medication and other supplies. Exercise, wood gathering or tending to livestock near home is also permitted.

As part of the order, the Navajo Department of Health has also reinstated 57-hour weekend curfews and limits on essential businesses.

According to tribal health officials, 68 communities on the reservation have uncontrolled spread of COVID-19, a slight decrease from previous weeks. The tribe Sunday reported 122 new known COVID-19 infections and 10 more deaths.
