The park will be open for day use and visitors are encouraged to be self-sufficient as services are limited. The North Rim was closed earlier this month as fire crews battled the Mangum Fire. It started on the Kaibab National Forest and has grown to more than 70 thousand acres. Fire officials say it’s now 60 percent contained. Evacuations have been lifted but pre-evacuation orders remain in place for residents in the House Rock Road area. State two fire restrictions remain in effect for all of Grand Canyon National Park.
