Oregon Man Arrested For Starting Wildfire Near Blue Ridge

Coconino County Sheriff's Office

An Oregon man has been arrested for starting a small wildfire last Friday in a forested area near Blue Ridge.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses spotted the fire on State Route 87 near the junction with S-R 260 and tried to extinguish it. They also saw a suspicious person in the area who was arrested and identified as Adam Gilliam. He later admitted to starting the fire, which was eventually put out by fire crews.

Gilliam was booked into the Coconino County Jail for illegal burning of wildland and refusing to provide a truthful name.
