For the first time, a Black Santa will greet kids at U.S. Disney parks
The jolly old elf has been spotted in Florida's Disney World and California's Disneyland. A spokesperson said Disney wanted Santa to represent the diversity of the parks' surrounding communities.

60 containers fall overboard when ship traveling to New York hit a storm
The ship headed to New York from Taiwan encountered a storm near the Azores on Jan. 15. Among the goods that went overboard were two cookbooks. Their release has been delayed for several months.

If you drive an older Honda or Acura, take a good look at your clock
Drivers of the older models cars woke up on Jan. 1 to find that instead of changing for the new year, their clocks skipped back to the year 2002. A fix for the issue is in the works.

A lost letter is delivered unopened, 76 years after it was sent
A few months after World War II, Sgt. John Gonsalves wrote home from his posting in Germany. He assured his mother that he was fine. Last month the letter turned up in a Pittsburgh post office.

A 1962, near-mint copy of 'The Incredible Hulk' comic sells for record price
The comic, in which the Hulk appears in his original grey, not his signature green, sold for almost half a million dollars at auction. It's the most expensive copy of the first Hulk story ever sold.

Unearthing Proof of a Tsunami in the Northwest
The threat posed to coastal areas by tsunami flooding gained new attention after the Indian Ocean catastrophe that killed 200,000. Now scientists say a huge tsunami hit the Pacific Northwest in 1700 -- and it may happen again.

A New Trial Run for Do-It-Yourself Stamps

Writer Samuel G. Freedman's new book is Who She Was: My Search for My Mother's Life. Freedman's mother died many years ago, when he was just 18, and as he approached his mother's age when she died, he decided to find out all about her life. The result is a narrative fueled by facts.

Beyond Melting Clocks: A Dali Retrospective
A retrospective at the Philadelphia Museum of Art celebrates the life of Salvador Dali, going beyond the surrealist work for which he is most famous. Curators wanted to explore Dali's later efforts, which left many critics unimpressed. Joel Rose of member station WHYY in Philadelphia took an early tour of the exhibit.

Carnegie's Famed Dinosaurs Get a Makeover
The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh is in the process of making over its world-renowned dinosaur exhibit, which includes 15 soaring skeletons. he specimens won't just be cleaned -- their poses will be adjusted to more accurately reflect current scientific research.
