Visualizing Scientific Discovery
Work with experienced researchers to illustrate scientific discoveries through digital artwork and visual communication. In a series of online lectures, exercises, and activities, you'll create figures and illustrations for research presentations, publications, and social media posts while developing skills using Adobe Photoshop to reflect your personal style. Exploring how artistic and scientific expression operate synergistically, you'll collaborate with your peers and instructor to support your research with visual aids. After completing this course, you will understand and recognize the elements of effective visual communication to inform your publications and presentations. This non-credit course is designed to help practicing scientists and students from all scientific disciplines improve their communication skills.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Fox” showing May 10-15 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.
An introverted young farm laborer, indentured and seemingly abandoned by his poor family as a child, volunteers for Austria’s army but soon finds himself part of Nazi Germany’s vast military machine.
When he discovers an orphaned fox cub, he adopts it and clings to it as the last vestige of his humanity amidst the carnage of WW2.
Based on the true story of Franz Streitberger, the director's great-grandfather.
Critics and audiences are calling “The Fox” profound, inspiring and heart-wrenching — one of the best animal-human bonding dramas you will ever see.
“The Fox” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres May 10-15. Showtimes will be Friday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m.; Monday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.
"Bad Indian" is one of the only Native American comedy showcases in the country and it is built on a simple premise: Natives are funny. Show creator, Joshua Emerson, is a Dine comic based in Denver. Growing up, the funniest people in Joshuas life were Indigenous but when he started to pursue comedy as a career, there were no Natives to be found. Joshua created "Bad Indian" to create oppurtunities for Native comics to showcase and develop their craft. Featured in festivals across the country including SF Sketchfest and Netdlix is a Joke Festival, DeadRoom Comedy brings the best in Indigenous comedic talent from all over Turtle Island for a night of gut busting and culture sharing. Come out and see some of the funniest Indigenous people in the world!
