While their mission is primarily to help families with children, individuals without children needing assistance are also welcome. Helping Families in Need is available every other Thursday from 9 am - 1 pm at the library. Drop in or call 1-800-298-4346 to set an appointment. Helping Families in Needis a non-profit organization whose mission is to make a lasting change in the lives of Arizona's children and their families by securing affordable health care and other resources for those most in need. *Note: This organization cannot help with government phone/internet programs. "Explore the remarkable story of the eight musicians aboard the Titanic, whose legacy lives on through myth and memory. Though little is known about the exact music played as the ship sank, their bravery left an enduring mark on history. Learn about their international backgrounds, careers, and the aftermath of the tragedy, as well as the cultural impact of the 1985 shipwreck discovery and the 1997 film Titanic. The talk also features the history of the hymn Nearer My God to Thee and its place in the Titanic’s story.

Dulais Rhys, Ph.D has been a professional musician for over 30 years and has Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Wales. Rhys also studied composition and conducting at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland."

Irish Night is a blend of authentic, dreamy melodies, stomping jigs, and reels with world and Latin twists, as traditional fiddler Kate Rose joins forces with masterful multi-genre guitarist Armand Ramirez. Result: an intoxicating fusion and original, deeply rooted musical experience. The icing on the cake: all you dancers out there will love getting down to the fiery sounds, and we will teach simple Irish dance moves and configurations to liven your party. We may even throw in some drinking games or drinking dances. Lovers of Ireland and all things Celtic will connect with poetic interludes and stories from Kate's years in County Clare learning among the fiddling farmers.

Members of the Fiber Artists of Northern Arizona Guild (FANA) will be available in the Downtown Library's Northwest Corner to teach beginners how to knit and help knitters who are stuck on a project.

Bring any supplies you have. We’ll also have extra supplies to get you started.
