The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Mr. Burton” showing April 24-29 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.
“Mr. Burton” was the winner of the Directors’ Choice Award for Best Feature Film Drama at the recent Sedona International Film Festival.
"Mr. Burton" tells the true story of the relationship between Port Talbot schoolmaster Philip Burton and a wild young schoolboy called Richard Jenkins, the son of a wayward drunk.
Richard dreamed of becoming an actor, but his ambitions were in danger of being derailed by a combination of family trouble, the pressure of war, and his own lack of discipline.
Mr. Burton recognized the raw talent in his pupil, becoming his tutor, strict taskmaster and eventually his adoptive father. And Richard Jenkins is transformed into Richard Burton — Wales's greatest star.
“Mr. Burton” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre April 24-29. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24, 25, 28 and 29 at 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday and Monday, April 26 and 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to continue the 2026 season of its Sedona Professional Theatre Company with “The Belle of Amherst” live on stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre, running April 24-26.
“The Belle of Amherst” — written by William Luce — stars Tarah Flanagan and is directed by Chris Mixon.
"The Belle of Amherst" is a play based on the life of Emily Dickinson.
In her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the reclusive nineteenth-century poet Emily Dickinson recollects her past through her work, her diaries and letters, and a few encounters with significant people in her life. William Luce’s classic play shows us both the pain and the joy of Dickinson’s secluded life.
TARAH FLANAGANTarah Flanagan is a New York-based director, actor, and teaching artist. Recent directing credits include As You Like It, No Child, and An Iliad (Great River Shakespeare Festival), Christmas at Pemberley (Utah State University), and An Iliad (co-director) PCPA and the Cleveland Play House. Tarah adapted and co-produced The Yellow Wallpaper for Actors Theatre of Louisville, co-produced/choreographed Darwin the Series, directed by Carrie Preston, and served as the dialect coach for the world premiere of Imbroglio by Melissa Maxwell at the Great River Shakespeare Festival. Tarah is a graduate of Webster University (BFA) and the University of Alabama-Alabama Shakespeare Festival (MFA). She is a proud member of AEA and SDC.
