Arizona Unemployment Rate Slips To 4.6% In December

Arizona's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 4.6% in December, down from 4.7% in November as the state's economy added 6,500 nonfarm jobs.

The Arizona Commerce Authority reports that the month-to-month jobs increase was higher than the 10-year average gain of 4,500 jobs in December and that the state's labor force increased by 8,533 individual in Decembers.

The economic sector recording the biggest jobs increase in December was trade, transportation and utilities, which added 5,200 jobs.

Leisure and hospitality added 3,000 jobs, and education and health services picked up 2,800 jobs.

The professional and business services sector had the biggest decrease with 5,200 fewer jobs.
