Authorities Search For Man Alleged To Have Caused Kachina Village Standoff

Coconino County Sheriff's Office

Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say they are searching for a man they thought was barricaded in a Kachina Village home.

A sheriff’s spokesperson says authorities entered the home Thursday around 5:20 p.m. to find that Jason Gonnie was not there.

A media release alleges Gonnie had broken into the lower level of the home Wednesday night. He was discovered Thursday morning, at which time he pointed a weapon at a resident and refused to allow anyone to leave.

Gonnie is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim during the time they were held. The victim and two children escaped Thursday afternoon and alerted authorities.

A sheriff's spokesperson says the 18-year-old Gonnie was formerly a foster child at the home. He’s described as native American, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slim build and black hair and eyes.
