AZ Dept. of Revenue: At Least $45 Million Of Unclaimed Property Linked To Northern Arizonans

The Arizona Department of Revenue says more than $45 million of the states’ billion-dollar unclaimed property fund belongs to people whose last known address is in northern Arizona.

The property is mostly money from sources like forgotten bank accounts and uncashed payroll checks, but also includes items like abandoned safety deposit boxes.

Unclaimed property ends up with the state for safekeeping after a business spends years unsuccessfully trying to locate a rightful owner.

Current and former state residents can check and see if they have any unclaimed property by going to the Department of Revenue’s website.
