KNAU 88.7 is operating on impaired low power. APS has shut off power to our tower atop Mormon Mountain to service another radio station's meter. APS estimates full power will be restored around midnight Sunday evening/Monday morning.

KNAG 90.3 FM Grand Canyon is back on-air. Our engineers have repaired transmitter equipment on the ground but suspect the tower-mounted antenna may have sustained damage & are working to locate the problem; further repairs to come... Thanks so very much to our dedicated listeners in the region for their patience & support!

KNAU Arizona Public Radio is integrating new audio software into both news and classical services. We thank you for your patience and support through the transition.

Arizona National Forests Close Many Recreation and Developed Sites

Multiple national forests in Arizona have closed recreation sites and other developed areas because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Coconino National Forest officials say group and single-family campgrounds, rental cabins and visitor centers will remain off limits to the public indefinitely. Day-use sites in Oak Creek Canyon, Clints Well and other areas of the forest are closed along with heritage sites like Honanki, Palatki and V Bar V. Forest officials are offering refunds for canceled reservations.

The Prescott, Tonto and Apache-Sitgreaves national forests have also closed all such sites because of COVID-19. The Kaibab National Forest has closed some developed recreation areas on the North Kaibab, Tusayan and Williams ranger districts.

Officials say the forests remain open but they encourage users to socially distance from others while outside. They also urge those in the forest to pack out all trash and mitigate impacts to public lands.
