Coconino County And City Of Flagstaff Rescind Mask Mandates

Coconino County and the City of Flagstaff are dropping masking mandates implemented last June to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Flagstaff Mayor Paul Deasy announced that the city’s face-covering proclamation ends Wednesday. The county board of supervisors also voted unanimously Tuesday to rescind its mask mandate on June 1.

The county supervisors’ decision only affects unincorporated areas. Deasy and the Coconino board cite widely available COVID vaccines and declining cases numbers.

Gov. Doug Ducey in March issued an executive order barring towns and cities from enforcing local mask mandates.
