A recent series of community dinners brought federal employees together at the Grand Canyon as they continue to recover from the longest-ever U.S. government shutdown. Even though they returned to work earlier this month, stress and uncertainty for the future remain.

Tusayan was hit by a flash flood event around 4 p.m. Tuesday after up to 3 inches of rain fell in the area. Water levels reached as deep as 3 feet in some areas.

The Coconino County Recorder’s Office reported voter turnout at about 24% with just a little more than 22,000 ballots cast in the primary election.
