KNAU 88.7 is operating on impaired low power. APS has shut off power to our tower atop Mormon Mountain to service another radio station's meter. APS estimates full power will be restored around midnight Sunday evening/Monday morning.

KNAG 90.3 FM Grand Canyon is back on-air. Our engineers have repaired transmitter equipment on the ground but suspect the tower-mounted antenna may have sustained damage & are working to locate the problem; further repairs to come... Thanks so very much to our dedicated listeners in the region for their patience & support!

KNAU Arizona Public Radio is integrating new audio software into both news and classical services. We thank you for your patience and support through the transition.

Storm Makes the Record Book

The latest storms that delivered  37 inches of snow in Flagstaff over seven days is the 10th snowiest storm cycle in Flagstaff dating back to 1899. It was also the largest snow storm in seven years. The National Weather Service records "excessive storms," which are defined by a period of time when measurable snowfall occurs on consecutive days, leading to 25 inches or greater accumulation by the time the snowfall ends.

January 2017 snowfall for Flagstaff is at 43.6 inches and the January water equivalent is 4.56 inches. It was way above average for the month, but not quite in the record books for wet Januaries.

This brings the season-to-date snowfall for Flagstaff to 64.1 inches. The to-date average is 47.4 inches.

The Arizona Snowbowl received a whopping 8 feet of snow!
