At Forest Magic Camp and Forest Fridays campers join a group of young explorers for an introductory wilderness experience that builds comfort and confidence with outdoor, camping, and hiking skills while developing strong, unique, and inclusive friendships.
Campers learn to support each other and share in their challenges and victories as they get their hands dirty learning about Coconino County forests, animals, and geology.
At camp, they get to test their skills with slack lines, hammocks, hiking, and bouldering all while enjoying the fun of place-based outdoor crafts and the company of many caring adult and teen Trail Wizards and trail Wizards in Training dedicated to exploring the magic of the forest!

Explore the power and creativity in words and art and the ways you can use them to shape your world during this two week-long day camp for young artists and authors.
In the mornings we will focus on poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction along with your instructors from the NAU English Department.
In the afternoons we will focus on art projects such as bookmaking, silk-screening, and letterpress with instructors from NAU’s School of Art and Design.
We will combine the writing and art activities to create collaborative projects such as a collective zine, a poetry broadside, tote bags, and more culminating in a celebration and exhibit of our work and talents!
Campers will engage in daily art and writing activities designed to spark creativity as we get to know one another.
Young artists and authors should be going into grades 6 - 12 and no art or writing experience necessary to be a camper.

We Are All Creative – Just for Kids! with Jen MyhreAges 9-12 years old

No experience is necessary – just the student’s willingness to make art every dayKids will learn and have fun exploring creative tools and techniques we can use at home with commonly found materials, with a lot of support and an embrace of experimentation and mistakes. We don’t need to want to be an artist to make things with our hands and have the joy of creativity in our daily lives. In this camp, we’ll learn how to make interesting textures through mark-making and repetition, how to make and use stencils, the basics of printmaking including making our own stamps and monoprints, and strategies for making collage. Throughout we’ll analyze and practice basic composition principles and develop our storytelling and meaning making skills. Each student will leave with a fun body of work.
Please bring a snack, and students should wear comfortable clothes that are okay to get dirty (or bring a smock/apron).

The Alchemist, by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, is a famous allegorical novel about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who journeys from Spain to the Egyptian pyramids in search of treasure, discovering his "Personal Legend" and spiritual wisdom along the way. The story, originally published in Portuguese in 1988, uses the metaphor of alchemy to represent the spiritual journey of self-discovery, emphasizing themes like listening to your heart, reading omens, and following your dreams. The Senior Book Club meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Joe C. Montoya Community and Senior Center from 2:00pm -3:00pm.
