British composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934) composed The Planets between 1914 and 1917. The orchestral suite premiered privately in 1918 and publicly in 1920 and was considered highly innovative at the time. Holst described it as “a series of mood pictures” influenced by astrological and mythological associations with seven planets of the solar system (the dwarf planet Pluto was not discovered until 1930).

The piece was first composed in an arrangement for two pianos and later orchestrated. It was recently arranged for both string and piano quartet performances by David Koerner for Dark Sky Quartet.

Richard Nihil, singer-songwriter behind I Am Hologram, performs at Dark Sky Brewing Beer Garden in Flagstaff on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM. The band has announced their highly anticipated tour which marks their return to the music scene after their 2011 album Paper Airplane reached number one on Billboard's Country, Bluegrass and Folk charts. Starring the 27-time Grammy Award champion and virtuoso fiddler Alison Krauss alongside Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, fans can look forward to a appealing mix of bluegrass, roots and folk classics. Special guest Theo Lawrence will start the show by bringing his energy to the already strong group of performers.

Irish Night, a new addition to Charly's legendary musical array, will take place every Thursday, 7-9:30pm in Flagstaff's Weatherford Hotel. It features Wild World Irish Fiddle, a blend of authentic, dreamy melodies, stomping jigs, and reels with world and Latin twists, as traditional fiddler Kate Rose joins forces with masterful multi-genre guitarist Armand Ramirez. Result: an intoxicating fusion and original, deeply rooted musical experience. The icing on the cake: all the dancers out there will love getting down to the fiery sounds, as Kate teaches simple Irish dance moves and configurations to liven your party. There may even be drinking games or drinking dances. Lovers of Ireland and all things Celtic will connect with poetic interludes and stories from Kate's years in County Clare learning among the fiddling farmers. Flagstaff based international touring musician releases his new album "At 33" . Denver based musician Andy Sydow will open the show.

Ryan Biter is the aimless, eccentric, tactless kid you went to school with growing up that you always kind of wondered what happened to after high school.With equal measures of irreverence, sharp insight, and vulnerability, Biter invites audiences to be open to our profound humanness. Weird, wonderful, and flawed.

Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, Andy Sydow is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who's lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism. Touring consistently both solo and with a backing band, Sydow is known to sway an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, sing a few numbers on his lap steel, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
