Join Mike Dechter of the Arizona Mushroom Society to learn more about the cryptic kingdom - mushrooms and fungi. This presentation* will be for those with incidental knowledge and curiosity about fungi. Mike will present on some fungi 101 - what are fungi and why are they important? He will also discuss basic mushroom anatomy, and identification of wild mushrooms. The last part of the presentation focuses on our Arizona Fab 4 Fungi - 4 easy to ID, edible wild mushrooms that grow here in northern Arizona.

A summer of reading comes to a head in the ultimate Teen Battle of the Books competition! Winning teams will receive monetary gift cards for each team member! For youth, ages 12-14. The Teen Battle of the Books is presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight” showing July 18-24 at Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.

Based on Alexandra Fuller’s memoir of the same name, “Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight” captures the childhood of 7-year-old Bobo on her family farm in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) at the end of the Zimbabwean War for independence in 1980.

Growing up in the midst of this long running war, Bobo internalizes both sides of the struggle. Conflicted by her love for people on opposing sides, she tries to make sense of her life in a magical way.

Through her seven-year-old gaze we witness Rhodesia’s final days, the family’s unbreakable bond with Africa, and the deep scars that war leaves on survivors.

“Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres July 18-24. Showtimes will be Friday, Sunday and Thursday, July 18, 20 and 24 at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday and Monday, July 19 and 21 at 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday, July 22 and 23 at 4:00 p.m.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to join theaters around the world for a global theatrical event: “Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill: Live From Prague - The Movie” on Wednesday, July 23 and Sunday, July 27 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.

The world’s foremost songwriter presents his vision of a better world in the most memorable performance of his career.

Roger Waters, founding member and creative force behind the legendary Pink Floyd, brings to the screen his live show, “Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill: Live From Prague - The Movie”. Directed by Sean Evans and Roger Waters, the film combines iconic songs from his Pink Floyd days with those from his solo career, encompassing a timespan of sixty years. The show is a stunning indictment of the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive, and a call to action to love, protect and share our precious and precarious planet home.

Dedicated to “our brothers and sisters all over the world who are engaged in the existential battle for the soul of humanity”, the movie is an extraordinary assault on the senses, not just musically and visually, but politically and philosophically as well. It captures performances of songs from some of the most influential albums of all time – The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, together with those from the most popular of Waters’ solo career, including Amused To Death and Is This The Life We Really Want? Brought together with his band and crew, the show is majestic, with performances that are powerful yet controlled.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Theatrikos Theatre Company to bring movies to Downtown Flagstaff!

This series continues on Wednesday, July 23 with the Flagstaff premiere of “Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light” at 7:00 p.m. at Theatrikos Theatre Company.

“Georgia O’Keeffe: the Brightness of Light” explores the life and art of the most important American woman artist of the 20th century.

Known as the “Mother of American Modernism,” O’Keeffe exploded on the New York art scene in the 1920s with her paintings of flowers, bones, and the beauty of nature. Nude photographs of O’Keeffe taken by her lover, Alfred Stieglitz, shocked the public and contributed to the perception that her paintings were sexually charged.

In the 1970s, O’Keeffe, famously isolated in the New Mexico desert, emerged as an iconic role model for second wave feminists.

From Academy Award-winning director Paul Wagner, the film features music by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, narration by Hugh Dancy, and Claire Danes as the Voice of Georgia O'Keeffe.

“Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light” will show at Theatrikos Theatre Company on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $9 for Film Festival members.
