Join globally recognized visual storyteller Lou Coetzer for a free lecture entitled “Seeing Beyond The Obvious” on how photography can unlock a profound connection to nature — and to ourselves — at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday, July 28 at 1:00 PM.
This event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome.
A world leader in nature-based storytelling, Coetzer invites attendees to explore how photography can lead to greater wellbeing, personal insight, and leadership transformation.
In the words of Craig Rix, publisher of Travel Africa Magazine: "Over the 27 years that we’ve published Travel Africa magazine, we have worked with hundreds of nature photographers and professional libraries. We have not met a photographer who approaches photography in the same way. Lou’s technical ability, rating system, and eye for storytelling through nature are second to none."
His work led to the publication of the groundbreaking book, Towards Synergy – Leadership Principles Reflected in Nature, in collaboration with the Da-Vinci School Of Business Leadership. This publication has inspired both Master’s and PhD-level academic research on leadership innovation and long-term wellness through connecting with nature by pressing the shutter release of any camera.
Albert Einstein once said, “If you cannot explain it to a six-year-old child, you do not know it yourself.” Coetzer’s approach embraces this philosophy fully. Coetzer’s message is simple: “It would be of no interest to me if the photographic skills required to enter this world of wonder, wellness and learning were only accessible to an elite few.”
By leveraging modern camera technology and a deeply human-centered teaching approach, Coetzer has democratized photography, opening the door for anyone to experience nature in an entirely new way. In this visually rich lecture, Coetzer will present extraordinary images captured by his mentees — ranging in age from 10 to 86.
“Seeing Beyond The Obvious” will be presented at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Monday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. All tickets are free of charge.
