Apr 21 Tuesday
Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday, April 21 when the Sedona International Film Festival hosts the big screen encore of the acclaimed British stage production “The Audience”. There will be two shows at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the festival’s Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
Returning to cinemas for the first time in over a decade, Academy Award, Golden Globe, Tony and Emmy-winner Helen Mirren plays Queen Elizabeth II in the Olivier and Tony Award-winning hit production “The Audience”, directed by Stephen Daldry.
For 60 years, Queen Elizabeth II met with each of her 12 prime ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. From Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron, the Queen advised her prime ministers on matters both public and personal. Through these private audiences, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch.
Peter Morgan’s Netflix phenomenon “The Crown” was based on this hit play that was captured live from London’s West End in 2013 and went on to become one of the most-watched NT Live productions.
“Funny and truthful, good-hearted, spiky, full of surprises. I loved every minute.” — The Times
“Helen Mirren rules in this engaging and humanizing retrospective.” — Time Out New York
“To the surprise of exactly no one, Helen Mirren is absolutely terrific.” — New York Post
“Royally entertaining.” — Variety

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Heads or Tails?” showing April 17-23 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.
John C. Reilly stars as Buffalo Bill in “Heads or Tails?” — a surreal Italian Western film that blends frontier drama with Italian folklore.
At the dawn of the 20th century, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show rolls into Italy, peddling the myth of the American frontier and sparking the imagination of Rosa, a young woman trapped in a stifling marriage to a powerful and violent landowner.
When a rodeo between American cowboys and Italian butteri ends in tragedy, Rosa flees with Santino, the daring local rider who bested the Americans. But in a world where justice is sold to the highest bidder, Buffalo Bill and others join the hunt for the bounty on Santino's head. Rosa's dream of freedom quickly collides with the weight of reality — and like in every good Western ballad, fate flips a coin.
“Heads or Tails?” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre April 17-23. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17, 18, 21 and 22 at 6:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Monday and Thursday, April 19, 20 and 23 at 3:30 p.m.
