Pilot In Dec. 13 Crash Identified As Chinese Student

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office

Yavapai County Authorities have identified a pilot who died in a plane crash earlier this month.

23-year-old Mingwei Du was a Chinese national living in Phoenix while attending college.

A single-engine plane containing his remains was found on December 13th on ranch land near the I-17/SR 169 interchange.

The rancher said the wreck appeared to be a couple of days old when found.

The release of Mingwei’s identity was delayed while authorities attempted to contact his family in China.
