Officials at Grand Canyon National Park have reported a visitor fatality.

Staff received a call that Phoenix resident Jaiquan Carter had fallen about 80 feet from the South Kaibab Trail above the Black Bridge that spans the Colorado River. Park rangers responded and found Carter’s body. He was believed to have been day hiking when the incident occurred.

The National Park Service is conducting an investigation into the death in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
