Phoenix Man Drowns At Lake Powell

Officials at say a 34-year-old Phoenix man recently drowned at Lake Powell.

According to the National Park Service, Subrahmaniyan Mathimohan slid down the slide of a rental houseboat and couldn’t swim back to the boat because of wind. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket.

Sheriff’s deputies and park rangers began a search and a dive team eventually recovered his body. The drowning occurred two Saturdays ago near Friendship Cove in Kane County, Utah, between Last Chance Bay and Rock Creek Bay more than 30 miles from Glen Canyon Dam.

The incident remains is under investigation.
