Hopi leaders have approved the first phase in the tribe’s reopening as cases of COVID-19 continue to decline.
Officials say all 13 Hopi villages and communities have reached benchmarks for officials in each village to determine restrictions.
Hopi leaders are still encouraging vulnerable people to stay home, all tribal members to avoid non-essential travel and to physically distance and wear masks. Leaders also recommend businesses limit capacity and keep other safety measures in place.
Earlier this week the tribe reported two known infections within the last 14 days and that almost half of residents had received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
