NAU Offensive Lineman Remembered as Tough But Kind

NAU Athletics

A Northern Arizona University offensive lineman is being remembered as a tough player and caring teammate.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that about 100 people gathered at the university Thursday night at a candlelight vigil for 22-year-old Malik Noshi. Emergency responders found him unconscious in his Flagstaff home Sunday.

The cause of death is under investigation.

First-year Lumberjacks coach Chris Ball says Noshi was tough and the team was lucky to have him. A table display adorned with flowers had his portrait, helmet and No. 65 jersey.

Noshi, who is from Las Vegas, began as a redshirt for the Lumberjacks in 2015. He started nine games last year and earned an honorable mention from the Big Sky Conference.

His teammates vowed to carry on his grit, determination and love for football.
