Officials say a Cottonwood police officer shot and killed an armed man while responding to a domestic violence situation Sunday. The agency has not publicly named the man or any officers involved.

Edward John Dominick was last seen Thursday in Cottonwood, but a traffic camera later picked up his car in Tempe near Scottsdale Road.

The City of Cottonwood says Police Chief Steve Gesell was placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave last week as "internal matters are being addressed."

A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Cottonwood man. The Cottonwood Police Department says 66-year-old Robert Allen Coody was last seen leaving work on June 10, 2022. Authorities say Coody has a cognitive disability.
