A project to repair watersheds in the Schultz Creek area near Flagstaff damaged by the 2022 Pipeline Fire is set to enter its second phase.

The first phase of a watershed restoration project in Schultz Creek is set to begin this month. Officials with the Coconino County Flood Control District and the Coconino National Forest say the work is in response to post-fire flooding caused by the 2022 Pipeline Fire.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Pipeline Fire burning near Flagstaff. A 57-year-old man was arrested Sunday by Forest Service law enforcement officers. He was charged with natural resource violations and booked into the Coconino County Sheriff’s Detention Facility. Evacuations remain in place. No structures or homes have been destroyed at this point.

Firefighters in Flagstaff are responding to a wildfire west Schultz Pass near the San Francisco Peaks. The Pipeline Fire is burning about 6 miles north of Flagstaff.
