Minnesota Governor Tim Walz visited the Navajo Nation capital over the weekend. It was the first time a member of a presidential ticket has campaigned on the reservation.

Prescott 13-year-old Aliyah Alpert was eliminated in the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee last night. She was the last-standing contestant from Arizona.

The day recognizes the more than 400 Navajo soldiers who used their language during World War II to create an unbreakable code and help turn the tide of the war.

The visit marks the first time that a sitting Arizona governor has come before the Navajo Nation’s governing body during a Council session.
