The National Rural STEM Learning Summit brings together educators, industry professionals, administrators, and community leaders to strengthen STEM education in rural communities through collaboration, hands-on learning, and shared best practices.

Launched in 2023 in Flagstaff, Arizona, the Summit connects participants from K-12 and higher education, nonprofits, museums, research institutions, and industry to explore practical solutions, innovative strategies, and the unique opportunities shaping rural STEM learning.

You’re invited to the National Rural STEM Learning Summit on September 3-4 at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ.

Designed to bring together rural educators, administrators, and community leaders who are passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math, participants will have the opportunity to attend inspiring keynote speeches, participate in hands-on workshops, and network with like-minded individuals who share their love for STEM.

Take advantage of this chance to be a part of the conversation and shape the future of STEM in rural areas.

An eclectic market featuring a mix of vintage, upcycled, artisan, antiques, previously loved treasures! Grab some lunch too! Located on Rte 66 in historic downtown Flagstaff.

Every morning, a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park. The subjects discussed on this walk may include geology, wildlife, history, archeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk, enhancing the learning experience. The program is included with park entrance fees.

Prescott Valley Public Library will be offering a Beginning Computer Skills course starting on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10AM- Noon.

In this course, learners will be introduced to different types of computers and their parts. They will practice how to turn on and log on to a computer, as well as log off and shut off a computer properly. Learners will practice basic mouse skills to manage files and folders on a desktop and be introduced to the differences in mouse shapes. Learners will recognize important keys on the keyboard and when to use them appropriately. The first class will be an assessment to gauge your skills.
Registration is for a 4-week class series.
Attendance is required for the first class. If you miss the first class, you will be removed from the class but are welcome to register for the next class series.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Deaf” showing Aug. 28-Sept. 3 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

“Deaf” was the big winner at the Berlin International Film Festival last year and has been a hit with festival audiences and critics around the world.

Ángela, a deaf woman, is expecting a child with her hearing partner, Héctor. Ángela's deafness raises concerns during her pregnancy regarding connecting with her daughter. Post-delivery, Héctor supports her as she learns to mother in a society lacking adequate accommodations for the hearing-impaired.

Ángela faces the challenges of raising her daughter in a world not made for her.

“Deaf” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Aug. 28-Sept. 3. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28, 29 and 30 at 3:30 p.m.; and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 31, Sept. 1, 2 and 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Build and Belong Club is a monthly LEGO-based social group in Prescott, welcoming neurodivergent participants of all ages from across the Tri-City area, including Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, and nearby communities. Each session offers a blend of open free-build time and optional guided LEGO activities, creating a relaxed, supportive environment where participants can explore creativity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and build connections at their own pace. The club is intentionally inclusive and strengths-based, honoring different communication styles, interests, and ways of engaging. Two groups: one for children and one for adults that will run simultaneously, allowing families and individuals to participate in a way that feels most comfortable. Build and Belong Club is offered in collaboration with Polara Health, AZA United, and the Prescott Public Library, partners committed to fostering community connection, accessibility, and lifelong learning. Together, we aim to provide a welcoming space where participants don't just build with LEGO bricks, they build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. Notes on Registering: If we should be aware of allergens or other information, please leave that in the Special Notes section of the registration form.  Please register using the name of the individual participating.  There will be a separate space to notate if there are additional family members or aides attending to assist.
