Join Willow Bend and geologist Danny Foley for a 45 minute-1 hour walking tour, based on local Flagstaff author Marie Jackson’s Stone Landmark’s book. An exclusive and unique opportunity for the community to explore downtown like never before.

The tour will cover ancient history of stones used to build downtown’s iconic buildings, including Moenkopi Sandstone, Pumiceous Dacite, Kaibab Limestone, and Malapais Basalt. In addition tours will highlight progression of architectural styles, discuss changing preferences for certain rock types, and provide an overview of historic events. Participants will search for fossils on the Ice House walls, find out what stone is referred to as “Arizona Red”, visit the layers of the "Grand Canyon" at Heritage Square, view beautiful stone etchings, and more.

Tours will meet at 1:00pm- meeting location sent 3 days before the event. The tour is FREE and will be limited to 20 participants. Sign-up in advance on this form. Comfortable walking shoes, water and a sun hat are recommended. Tour is wheelchair and stroller accessible and suitable for all ages.

Prescott Valley Public Library in partnership with Silverkite Community Art Classes presents Color Blending with Pastels from 1:30-2:30 PM on Monday, September 22, 2025. This is a virtual, live online art class for adults.
Discover the magic of color in Color Blending with Pastels, a free online art class perfect for beginners. Dive into the vibrant world of colored pencils as you learn essential techniques for blending hues, layering texture, and creating soft, painterly effects. This hands-on workshop will guide you step-by-step, giving you the tools to bring depth and richness to your art all from the comfort of home. No experience needed, just your creativity and curiosity!

• -Oil pastels (a basic set with a variety of colors)
• -Mixed media or pastel paper (9x12 inches or similar size)
• -Blending tools (blending stump, soft cloth such as a paper towel or Q-Tip)
• -Pencil and eraser

• -Fixative spray for preservation
• -Reference photo for inspiration

Every morning, a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park. The subjects discussed on this walk may include geology, wildlife, history, archeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk, enhancing the learning experience. This walk is included with your park entry fee.

The Clara M. Lovett Art Museum at Northern Arizona University proudly presents Prints. People. Power., an exhibition celebrating the bold visual voices of artists from across the American southwest as well as Central and South America who harness the power of printmaking to address pressing social, political, and cultural issues while also celebrating our shared humanity. Featuring works from the museum’s permanent collection, we focus on artists from three organizations: the Taller de Grafica Popular (1937), the Movimiento Artistico del Rio Salado (1978), and the Arizona Print Group (1990s). The exhibition enables visitors to explore how artists utilize the democratic medium of print to amplify marginalized voices, inspire dialogue, and foster connections across borders.

We invite you to volunteer at Riordan Mansion State Historic Park!

The duplex-style Riordan Mansion remains one of the finest examples of American Arts and Crafts-
style architecture open to the public today. Designed by the architect of the impressive El Tovar Hotel
at the Grand Canyon, Charles Whittlesey, the homes were built in 1904 with indoor plumbing, hot
and cold running water, central heat, and electric lights, reflecting the most modern technology and
design of the time.
Seen by guided tour only, the interiors of the Riordan family homes look essentially as they did in 1904.
The homes showcase original family belongings including fine examples of early Stickley furniture.

Volunteer opportunities available include Front Desk, Interpretive Tours, Grounds and Maintenance services.

Does your child love stories and furry friends? Join us for a tail-wagging good time that nurtures literacy, one paw at a time. Paws for Reading offers a relaxed space where children can read aloud to trained therapy dogs. This program helps build reading confidence, improve fluency, and make reading fun! No registration required. Paws for Reading is presented monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 3:30 pm. Come see some not so hungry caterpillars made of stilt-walkers transform into a group of enchantingly beautiful butterflies! Your little one can see the four phases of a butterfly’s life through puppet storytelling, as well as witness an amazing circus performance— all for free! At Willow Bend, there are many exciting things to see!
