The duplex-style Riordan Mansion remains one of the finest examples of American Arts and Crafts-
style architecture open to the public today. Designed by the architect of the impressive El Tovar Hotel
at the Grand Canyon, Charles Whittlesey, the homes were built in 1904 with indoor plumbing, hot
and cold running water, central heat, and electric lights, reflecting the most modern technology and
design of the time.
Seen by guided tour only, the interiors of the Riordan family homes look essentially as they did in 1904.
The homes showcase original family belongings including fine examples of early Stickley furniture.

Volunteer opportunities available include Front Desk, Interpretive Tours, Grounds and Maintenance services.

Leaf + Cone: An Autumn Painting Series
A Monthly Acrylic Painting Workshop on Wood Panels with Jill Sans
Where: The HeArt Box, Downtown Flagstaff

Time: 2.5 hours
Cost: $65 per session (all materials included), $165 for all 3 sessions

This fall, join us for a seasonal painting journey celebrating the beauty of the forest through leaves, acorns, and pine cones. Leaf & Cone is a three-part guided workshop series inspired by the rhythm of autumn, designed in the same spirit as our popular Summer Wildflower Series.

Each month, we’ll gather for a 2.5-hour creative session where you’ll paint a unique composition on an 8x8 wood panel. We’ll work with acrylics while also incorporating hand-crafted botanical inks made from the very plants we’re painting—adding an earthy, natural backdrop that lets the wood grain shine through. This mixed-media approach connects you even more deeply to the subject matter, creating a one-of-a-kind piece rooted in the season.

September 28th: Oak Leaves & Acorn (with oak leaf ink, when available)

October 12th: Aspen Leaves (with golden aspen ink, when available)

November 23rd: Pine Cone & Needles (with pine ink, when available)

Love & light, foolishness & pain, the impossible beauty & burden of life; D-Squared weaves it all together with deft harmonies, wry humor, and shining musicianship. And they do it all with a harp, a guitar, and two voices. It is a spacious, arid, distinctively southwestern sound. Don Charles plays guitar, composes and sings unforgettable songs delivered in a rich baritone voice. He is a wordsmith with a bag of tricks informed by life pursuits as a cowboy, blacksmith, and philosopher king. Deb Gessner plays folk harp, sings beguilingly, and composes quirky, intimate vignettes and delightful instrumentals. She brings the visual approach of an artist to her music and is a talented bronze sculptor with many contributions to public and private art in Arizona. D-Squared toured the continent for twenty years playing concerts, coffeehouses, and festivals. They have four CDs to their credit, had their music featured in film and television, and shared the stage with legends. Coffeehouse Concerts showcases local and regional talent with an emphasis on original music each month from September through April. The series features a variety of acoustic, contemporary, and traditional styles of music. This concert is arranged and hosted by Jo Berger and presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
