We invite you to volunteer at Riordan Mansion State Historic Park!

The duplex-style Riordan Mansion remains one of the finest examples of American Arts and Crafts-
style architecture open to the public today. Designed by the architect of the impressive El Tovar Hotel
at the Grand Canyon, Charles Whittlesey, the homes were built in 1904 with indoor plumbing, hot
and cold running water, central heat, and electric lights, reflecting the most modern technology and
design of the time.
Seen by guided tour only, the interiors of the Riordan family homes look essentially as they did in 1904.
The homes showcase original family belongings including fine examples of early Stickley furniture.

Volunteer opportunities available include Front Desk, Interpretive Tours, Grounds and Maintenance services.

Kindled: The Reitz Studio Legacy Exhibition and Sale
December 12th, 2025– January 23rd, 2026

Kindled: The Reitz Studio Legacy brings together the work of Don Reitz and the artists who worked alongside him as studio assistants during his later years at his Arizona ranch. More than just a celebration of Reitz’s singular voice in American ceramics, this exhibition highlights the deep and lasting impact he had on the lives and practices of the artists who supported his studio. Through shared labor, experimentation, and conversation, these assistants became part of a living lineage—absorbing Reitz’s fearless energy, his love of fire and form, and the raw honesty he brought to the material.

This exhibition features ceramic works by a select group of artists who worked closely with Reitz, alongside pieces from Reitz himself. Each artist contributes not only their work but also a written reflection on their time at the ranch and the ways Reitz’s mentorship shaped their creative path. Together, these works tell a story of legacy—not as imitation, but as ignition: a spark passed from one hand to another, kept alive in new forms, new fires, and new voices.

On Friday, January 23, Tom Chapin brings his “insightful, heartfelt songcraft and effortlessly charismatic live performance” to the Elks Crystal Hall, Third Floor. In a career that spans six decades, 27 albums and three GRAMMY awards Tom has covered an incredible amount of creative ground. In addition to his work as a recording artist, concert performer, storyteller, and activist, he’s performed on Broadway and worked extensively in television, radio and film.

This event, known as parkrun, takes place every Saturday morning - same time, same place, same 5K distance. Run, walk, jog, walk the dog, push the grandchildren in a stroller, or volunteer - this event is free, for everyone, forever. It is an opportunity to get outside into the fresh air with a bunch of like-minded folks. It’s is worldwide. Every Saturday about 350,000 people all around the world are doing their own local parkrun. Visit our website and complete a one-time registration so your parkrun efforts can be recorded. Learning more about the native plants in the Sedona area is a great way to enhance any hike. Our volunteer guides explain how plant life is interconnected with indigenous cultures, pioneer settlers, people in our contemporary times and wildlife.

This program is included with park entrance fees. Space is limited in the program, so reservations are encouraged and can be made at the beginning of each month for that month's program, (928) 282-6907.
