Former Coconino County Supervisor Liz Archuleta begins a new senior staff position for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Thursday.

She was appointed by the Biden-Harris administration as the agency’s director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Archuleta will serve as a liaison to state, county, local, tribal officials and other stakeholders for the USDA.

Archuleta was a Coconino County supervisor for 24 years and served as chair, among several other roles, and was the first Latina supervisor for the county. The board will appoint a replacement for her seat.
