The Verde Village Community Connection (VVCC) is celebrating National Good Neighbor Day by “Connecting Neighbors with Neighbors” in a Virtual Connection Challenge. By completing a series of challenges beginning September 14th, community members become eligible to win one of five prizes of a gift card of your choice or a $100 grand prize gift card of your choice. The challenges involve meeting your neighbors and connecting with the VVCC, then posting photos and comments to the VVCC Facebook and Next Door pages. Complete details are at VVPOA.net/challenge. This Challenge is open to all: VVCC members, non-members, residents of Verde Village and the greater community. Then visit the Verde Village Community Connection booth at Verde River Day at Dead Horse State Park on September 28th for a free community bag and to let us know how we can connect and support you as neighbors. Since that is the actual National Good Neighbor Day, the VVCC Virtual Connection Challenge ends that day at 5 PM with a drawing for the prizes. The VVCC intends this Challenge to encourage people to build positive relationships with their neighbors, promoting a sense of community and goodwill.

Christine Cassano: QUADRIVIUM
Bronze Soundscape Installation
QUADRIVIUM is a sound instrument as well as a soundscape installation. A light push from the hand engages the forty-nine suspended bronze pieces to play sound and create a mediative environment—a space where matter, energy and vibration connect. The installation can be experienced by walking around it, sitting nearby or by laying back on the seated platform underneath it. Its title, “Quadrivium” is the Latin word meaning “where four roads meet—a crossroads” and references a curriculum established during the Renaissance era consisting of four subjects: Arithmetic, Geometry, Harmonics & Astronomy.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Sugarcane” showing Sept. 20-26 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.
A stunning tribute to the resilience of Native people and their way of life, “Sugarcane” — the debut feature documentary from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie — is an epic cinematic portrait of a community during a moment of international reckoning.
In 2021, evidence of unmarked graves was discovered on the grounds of an Indian residential school run by the Catholic Church in Canada. After years of silence, the forced separation, assimilation and abuse many children experienced at these segregated boarding schools was brought to light, sparking a national outcry against a system designed to destroy Indigenous communities.
Set amidst a groundbreaking investigation, “Sugarcane” illuminates the beauty of a community breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma and finding the strength to persevere.
“Sugarcane” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre Sept. 20-26. Showtimes will be Friday and Thursday, Sept. 20 and 26 at 3:30 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12:30 p.m.; and Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23 and 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.
The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “A Mistake” showing Sept. 20-26 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
A gripping cinematic adaptation of the best-selling novel, “A Mistake” delves into the perilous aftermath of surgeon Elizabeth Taylor's (Elizabeth Banks) split-second medical decision, unfolding a thrilling exploration of the fatal ripple effects triggered by a single human error.
Elizabeth is a gifted surgeon--the only female consultant at her hospital. But while operating on a young woman, something goes horribly wrong. In the midst of a new scheme to publicly report surgeons' performance, her colleagues begin to close ranks, and Elizabeth's life is thrown into disarray.
Tough and abrasive, Elizabeth has survived and succeeded in this most demanding field. But can she survive a single mistake?
“A Mistake” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Sept. 20-26. Showtimes will be Friday, Sept. 20 at 3:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1:00 p.m.; Sunday, Monday and Thursday, Sept. 22, 23 and 26 at 7:00 p.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 24 and 25 at 4:00 p.m.
