Join us for a hands-on exploration of motion and engineering! In this interactive STEAM Lab, kids will build their own rubber band-powered cars using cardboard, skewers, bottle caps, and simple materials. Participants will test their cars on flat surfaces and ramps, make predictions about speed and distance, and experiment with different designs to see whose car goes the farthest and fastest. Along the way, we'll explore concepts like potential and kinetic energy, forces, motion, and how design changes can affect performance. Kids will collect data, analyze results, and make evidence-based decisions to improve their car designs, just like real engineers! This STEAM Lab is designed for kids in grades 2-5 and promotes hands-on discovery, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a fun, engaging environment. Register online, at the Youth Desk, or call 928.777.1537. Prescott Public Library and Yavapai Exploration and Science are teaming up to offer school-age children a chance to experience STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) through interactive and engaging activities. Presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library.

At the turn of the new millennium, on an unspoiled stretch of coast in southern Sardinia, Efisio Mulas, a solitary shepherd and custodian of times seemingly long past, defends his land from Giacomo, a developer determined to turn it into a luxury resort.
The foreman at the site, Mariano, tries to convince Efisio to sell, while his daughter Francesca is torn between her attachment to her roots and the urgent need for change that grips her community. When the dispute winds up in court, a local judge from the area, Giovanna, finds herself deciding the case.
“‘Life is Life’ is not only the story of a man who had the courage to say no. It is also the tale, based on a real-life case, of a community in our country forced to choose between respecting the land and giving people employment,” said director Riccardo Milani. “It is in stories like this that I seek out the humanity that is hidden in each of us, still.”
“Life is Life” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre May 9-14. Showtimes will be Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, May 9, 11, 12 and 14 at 4:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for Film Festival members. For tickets and more information, please call 928-282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona. For more information, visit: www.SedonaFilmFestival.org.
Edie Dillon’s recent mixed media sculpture offers thought provoking visual interpretations of the ideas that lead us away from the limiting frame of human exceptionalism: interdependence, reciprocity, and connection between humans and the more than human world.
The growing Rights of Nature movement – which advances nature itself as a body deserving legal rights – has the potential to significantly increase our chances of sustaining all life on the planet. The movement puts into practice our increasingly inclusive and multidimensional understandings of the more than human world – understandings that encompass both deep spiritual traditions and sophisticated scientific discoveries.

Irish Night, a new addition to Charly's legendary musical array, will take place every Thursday, 7-9:30pm in Flagstaff's Weatherford Hotel. It features Wild World Irish Fiddle, a blend of authentic, dreamy melodies, stomping jigs, and reels with world and Latin twists, as traditional fiddler Kate Rose joins forces with masterful multi-genre guitarist Armand Ramirez. Result: an intoxicating fusion and original, deeply rooted musical experience. The icing on the cake: all the dancers out there will love getting down to the fiery sounds, as Kate teaches simple Irish dance moves and configurations to liven your party. There may even be drinking games or drinking dances. Lovers of Ireland and all things Celtic will connect with poetic interludes and stories from Kate's years in County Clare learning among the fiddling farmers. All ages are welcome, the food is tasty, the drinks are as unique as the historical venue itself. facebook.com/KateRoseWildIrishFiddle wildirishfiddle@gmail.com 928-380-8489
