Please join Northern Arizona Archaeology Society for a presentation by Peter J. Pilles Jr.

Abstract: Volunteers with the Northern Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society and the Coconino National Forest have been conducting a multi-year survey centered along the San Francisco Wash, about 25 miles northeast of Flagstaff. There is high site density in the area, and rock images. The talk will outline some possibilities for interpretation including a focus on agricultural practices, land use patterns, and social structures.

Peter Pilles graduated from Arizona State University and worked for Pueblo Grande Museum and the Museum of Northern Arizona. In 1975 he became the Coconino National Forest Archaeologist until his retirement. His primary research interest is focused around northern Arizona’s Sinagua culture and the many connections with affiliated people today. He is also active in rock art documentation, stabilization, the Elden Pueblo project, and collaborating with volunteers.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Shepherd and the Bear” showing March 13-18 at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre.

Set high in the majestic French Pyrenees, “The Shepherd and The Bear” explores a conflict provoked by the reintroduction of brown bears in the midst of a traditional shepherding community.

The film follows an ageing shepherd who struggles to find a successor as bears prey on his flock, and a teenage boy who becomes obsessed with tracking the bears.

Through its breathtaking cinematography and immersive storytelling, “The Shepherd and The Bear” is a modern folktale about tradition, community and humanity’s relationship with a vanishing natural world.

“The Shepherd and the Bear” will be shown at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre March 13-18. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 13, 14 and 15 at 6:30 p.m.; and Monday and Wednesday, March 16 and 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Paul Helford of Communications and Paul Donnelly of Comparative Cultural Studies—they have been running the film series for years. They love movies and they will help you love them too! After the show, stay for a friendly community discussion about the film.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present “The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” starring The Sun Kings Acoustic Duo - Unplugged live at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17 and 18.

“The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” features Drew Harrison and Scott Southard, the voices of Lennon and McCartney in one of America’s favorite and critically acclaimed Beatles tribute groups. A pair of top-notch singer/songwriters in their own right, Drew and Scott share in acoustic performance their passion for the music of The Beatles and the John and Paul singing and writing partnership.

Drew Harrison, leader of The Sun Kings — A Beatles tribute as nature Intended — lends the uncanny vocals that have earned him recognition as one of the best Lennon interpreters in the world. He captures not only the sound, but the nuance and emotion of Lennon’s voice, without mimicry. A musician since 15, Drew authentically conveys the detail, sound, and spirit of Lennon's rhythm guitar playing; so important to the Beatles' overall sound. In addition to The Sun Kings, Drew also produces the shows In the Spirit of Lennon - Unplugged and Plastic Fauxno Band, a full band tribute to the music and legacy of Lennon’s solo career.

Scott Southard, an original singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, hails from Klamath Falls, Oregon. He got his first guitar on his 9th birthday but later switched to upright bass. Ever musically curious, Scott learned the mandolin and played bluegrass for several years. Failing to agree on a hairstyle kept him moving from band to band, playing originals and covers of everything from Rush to Ellington. Eventually he decided the real money was in painstakingly crafted, harmony laden, intellectual semi-acoustic folk rock. Scott has been the McCartney in The Sun Kings since 2017. He also teaches video production at Folsom High School and performs with the Tom Petty tribute, Great Wide Open.

Drew and Scott present an enjoyable evening of your favorite Beatles songs, with stories about the songs, all laced with quite a bit of humor. This is a must-not-miss!

“The Songs of Lennon and McCartney” takes the stage on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Prescott’s Phippen Museum is once again hosting the 10th Arizona Pastel Artists Association National Show. The exhibition and sale runs from February 28 through April 19, 2026. Creativity and unique subject matters spark this showcase of paintings full of rich, saturated colors that only pastels can achieve.

We invite you to the grand opening reception on March 14th from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The reception includes a presentation by artist Karen Budan, a luncheon and an awards ceremony, which are open to the public and free of charge.

Paintings in the exhibition include landscape, still life, abstract and more, including western and local themes. Works from fifteen northern Arizona artists will be on display as well as artists from across the state and nation.
Nationally acclaimed and award-winning artist, Karen Budan, served as judge for the juried show. Karen is a contemporary still life artist, whose style ranges from realistic to highly photorealistic. Her paintings capture vivid colors, luminous reflections and extraordinary detail.
