Join us for a special conversation with acclaimed historical fiction author Nancy Turner as she discusses her newest novel, "Light Changes Everything."

Turner is the celebrated author of "These Is My Words", a beloved novel published in six languages and widely recognized as a breakout success from HarperCollins. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes and history of the Southwest, Turner’s writing reflects her deep connection to the region.

Born in Dallas and raised across Arizona, California, and the Southwest, Turner has balanced her writing career with raising her family in rural Arizona while pursuing her passions for painting, quilting, poetry, and history. She studied at both Pima Community College and the University of Arizona, completing her education alongside her children.

This is a free one-hour workshop for kids ages 7-14 and no experience is necessary! All supplies provided.

Shifting Topographies: Extracting the Landscape, explores how mining is harming the earth and those who inhabit it. In this workshop, youth will explore ways we can help care for the earth, such as recycling. Using items that are NOT recyclable, such as berry containers, coffee cups, and other single-use plastics, we will put our creativity to use and transform them into beautiful and useful objects or sculptures, keeping them out of the landfill!

Enjoy the museum exhibits, included with your admission ticket to Thirsty Thursday: $8 for museum members, $18 for non-members, children 9 and under are free.

Everyone will have a chance to play our passive trivia game. Come out and flex your knowledge of the Colorado Plateau and the Museum of Northern Arizona. A prize will be awarded to the winner. Kids’ activities will be offered in the courtyard, so bring the whole family!
