Join Willow Bend and geologist Danny Foley for a guided Downtown Geology Tour—a 45-minute to 1-hour walking exploration inspired by local Flagstaff author Marie Jackson’s Stone Landmarks book. This exclusive experience offers a fresh perspective on downtown Flagstaff, blending natural history, architecture, and local heritage. Meeting location sent upon registration.

Learn about the ancient stones used to build Flagstaff’s iconic structures, including Moenkopi Sandstone, Pumiceous Dacite, Kaibab Limestone, and Malapais Basalt. Discover how architectural styles evolved, how preferences for rock types changed over time, and how geology intersects with local history.

Highlights include:

- Searching for fossils on the Ice House walls

- Identifying the stone known as “Arizona Red”

- Visiting a mini “Grand Canyon” at Heritage Square

- Viewing intricate stone etchings—and more!

This tour is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and suitable for all ages. Registration is required.

Wrapped in Love Diaper Bank is running a donation and children’s book drive September 8 through October 14. They provide diapers, period products, incontinence supplies, and wipes to families across Yavapai County. They’re also collecting children’s books for holiday diaper bundles. And during Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 14–20, they’re teaming up with the Arizona Diaper Bank to raise one million diapers statewide which includes matching funds that double your donation. Every morning, a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park. The subjects discussed on this walk may include geology, wildlife, history, archeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk, enhancing the learning experience. The program is included with park entrance fees.

Please join us for an evening of storytelling. Where science meets The Moth Story Hour, this lively evening features personal stories told by NAU students, faculty, and staff. Storytellers share the human side of science: unexpected challenges, difficult relationships, embarrassing moments, hard won successes, and the experiences that have shaped who they are. Funny, moving, vulnerable, and inspiring, these stories remind us that behind every discovery is a person with a story worth telling.

Pre-show reception begins at 5:00PM with food and drink provided.

Irish Night, a new addition to Charly's legendary musical array, will take place every Thursday, 7-9:30pm in Flagstaff's Weatherford Hotel. It features Wild World Irish Fiddle, a blend of authentic, dreamy melodies, stomping jigs, and reels with world and Latin twists, as traditional fiddler Kate Rose joins forces with masterful multi-genre guitarist Armand Ramirez. Result: an intoxicating fusion and original, deeply rooted musical experience. The icing on the cake: all the dancers out there will love getting down to the fiery sounds, as Kate teaches simple Irish dance moves and configurations to liven your party. There may even be drinking games or drinking dances. Lovers of Ireland and all things Celtic will connect with poetic interludes and stories from Kate's years in County Clare learning among the fiddling farmers. Flagstaff based international touring musician releases his new album "At 33" . Denver based musician Andy Sydow will open the show.

Ryan Biter is the aimless, eccentric, tactless kid you went to school with growing up that you always kind of wondered what happened to after high school.With equal measures of irreverence, sharp insight, and vulnerability, Biter invites audiences to be open to our profound humanness. Weird, wonderful, and flawed.

Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, Andy Sydow is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who's lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism. Touring consistently both solo and with a backing band, Sydow is known to sway an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, sing a few numbers on his lap steel, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
