Drop-in to the  weekly Casual Chess program, where adult and teen players of all levels are welcome. Whether you're brand new to the game, a casual player, or an advanced competitor, Casual Chess offers a supportive and engaging environment. Come play, learn, and enjoy chess with others in your community. Boards and clocks will be available.  Chess Meetup is held in partnership with Prescott Chess Club. Club membership is not required.  

Support historic preservation in Prescott and Yavapai County at the twenty-second annual Prescott Antique Show and Vintage Market, happening October 9th and 10th.
Hosted at the historic Prescott Rodeo Grounds, this community event features a wide range of authentic antiques, furniture, period home goods, Native American and other vintage jewelry plus upcycled decor. This year’s event also introduces a dedicated Country Market highlighting local artisan craftsmen. One-hundred percent of proceeds from the event directly fund regional restoration, history, and education initiatives.

Join Willow Bend and forager John Slattery for an information-packed, hands-on workshop that walks you through every step of processing acorns for food and provides recipes for preparing your leached acorn meal. We will process acorns from the locally abundant Gambel’s oak (Quercus gambelii), which can be found throughout Flagstaff's urban environment and the surrounding forests. Late September to early October is prime time for gathering these tasty acorns, so be sure to join us so you can be prepared to handle this prime wild food resource.

We’ll fully process acorns to prepare them for cooking, and weather permitting, we’ll enjoy a solar-baked bread together to wrap up the class. All participants will get hands-on experience with processing acorns, and everyone will leave with the knowledge and experience to properly process all acorns for food.

There is no equipment or prior experience necessary to participate in this class. Just bring an open mind and willingness to learn.

Looking for an excuse to hang out with cool people and make some art? Look no further! Come, relax, and participate in group sketching prompts. This is NOT an art class, but beginners are more than welcome!
Extra drawing utensils and paper pads will be provided.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to join theatres around the world for a special global cinema event, “Queen Budapest”, coming to the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres for two shows only on Oct. 7 and 10.

Calling all Queen fans … you have the chance to watch Queen’s momentous concert movie, on the big screen.

On July 27, 1986, Queen performed the largest-ever stadium concert at the Népstadion in Budapest in front of 80,000 ecstatic fans. The concert was part of the famed Magic Tour, which was the last time the band toured with lead singer Freddie Mercury.

Now, this original concert film has been beautifully rescanned and remastered in 4K alongside a dynamic new audio mix, featuring many of Queen’s favorite tracks — ”Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “I Want To Break Free” and “We Are The Champions.”

With three years to go before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this was the first Western rock concert performed in a stadium behind the then Iron Curtain. It was of such significance to the Hungarian authorities and film industry that a group of the country’s top film cameramen and technicians were brought together to film it for posterity.

“Queen Budapest” is a must–see cinema event for Queen fans across the world.

“Queen Budapest” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. and at the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

The Flagstaff Plein Air Festival will take place from October 4–25, 2026, challenging both painters and photographers to capture the beauty of the Northern Arizona region, on location. This multi-day event blends artistic practice with community engagement, environmental awareness, and visual storytelling.

At the culmination of the festival, participants will showcase their work in a professionally juried exhibition. The public is welcome to watch the artists at work throughout the week, participate in a variety of workshops and presentations, and purchase completed artwork at the culminating First Glimpse Reception and Sale. A two-week Festival Exhibition to follow.
