"Join San Luis Obispo, California based professional landscape and nature photographer Nic Stover for his presentation “Evaluating and Working with Light in Nature Photography.” Nic will discuss how to think about the many different types of light within photography and how to deal with them in the field. Nic’s presentation focuses on what helps photographers discover those aspects of the light they can control and how they can work with the light they’re given to create to the type of image they want to create.

Nic currently resides in San Luis Obispo, California where he teaches classes, leads workshops, and brings together amazing speakers. He enjoys travel and exploration in places like the Canadian Rockies, the High Sierras, and the Desert Southwest that hold the most value for him on his creative journey. The Nature Photography Collective, through which he hosts a regular speaker series, brings in the very best nature photography teachers and educators. Throughout his photographic journey, his hope is to engage people in their natural environment and deepen their appreciation of the beauty and the opportunities that exist to protect this amazing place we call Earth.

Bird enthusiasts join a naturalist for a guided walk appropriate for beginner and advanced birders. Most year-round birds are found in the riparian area next to Oak Creek or along the field behind the Visitor Center. The Audubon Society has designated Red Rock State Park as part of the Lower Oak Creek Important Birding Area (IBA) because of the many species that live or visit here. Please meet up with the leader on the viewing deck above the visitor center.

Pilgrimage of Light is an exhibition by Texas- based artist and Grand Canyon Artist in Residence Mark Chen.

His photographs unite the cosmos and Earth, aligning starlight with ancient landscapes to reveal the experience through projected celestial images. Performing & Fine Arts (#37) Second Floor, Room 216 Group visits welcome!

Every morning, a volunteer naturalist leads a guided nature walk informing visitors about the different life zones of Red Rock State Park. The subjects discussed on this walk may include geology, wildlife, history, archeology, and plant life. The naturalists welcome questions during the walk, enhancing the learning experience. The program is included with park entrance fees.

This exhibition celebrates drawing as a shared practice rooted in collaboration, and creative exchange. Artists affiliated with the Hozhoni Foundation, a nonprofit serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, worked alongside invited artists to create the drawings presented here, responding to one another’s ideas, marks, and approaches.

Throughout the exhibit, a rotating selection of curated student projects inspired by these works will extend the dialogue through observation, interpretation, and response.

Come sip tea and make crafts in this in-person craft program for adults. This month, we will make mosaics out of beans. This craft is designed for all skill levels and is led by instructor Danielle Derois. Due to limited supplies and materials, registration is limited to 25 people, and each registrant is restricted to one craft per month. Group registration is not permitted, individual sign-ups only. Craft is subject to change. CrafTea Time takes place monthly from September through May and is presented with funding from the Friends of Prescott Public Library.
