The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon updated evacuation orders for several neighborhoods impacted by the Pipeline and Haywire fires.

Agency officials say they took in 143 animals at the Fort. Tuthill County Stables and 158 animals at the 4th Street shelter. With a horse show scheduled this weekend at Fort. Tuthill, the clean up work is more than humane association staff is capable of doing alone.

Managers on the Pipeline Fire say it’s reached more than 22,000. Calmer winds and more favorable firefighting conditions Tuesday allowed for strong aerial firefighting operations. Sling bucket helicopters and DC10 slurry bombers worked non-stop through the day.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors Monday declared a State of Emergency due to the impacts of the Pipeline Fire burning near Flagstaff on the San Francisco Peaks. A man arrested in connection with the fire made his first court appearance, claiming he lit toilet paper on fire and put it under a rock, not realizing it would smolder all night.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Pipeline Fire burning near Flagstaff. A 57-year-old man was arrested Sunday by Forest Service law enforcement officers. He was charged with natural resource violations and booked into the Coconino County Sheriff’s Detention Facility. Evacuations remain in place. No structures or homes have been destroyed at this point.

The Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter for Pipeline Fire evacuees at Sinagua Middle School, 3950 E. Butler Ave. Household animals may be taken to the Coconino Humane Association, livestock to the Ft. Tuthill stables.

Officials with Coconino County have ordered evacuations for the Arizona Snowbowl, Schultz Pass Road and Forest Service roads 556, 557, 576, and 522.

Nearly all evacuation orders have been lifted for the Crooks Fire burning in the Bradshaw Mountains south of Prescott. An Emergency Response Team has completed a Soil Burn Severity Map for the Tunnel Fire. Crews are conducting mop up operations on the Antelope Fire north of Sunset Crater near Flagstaff.

The Crooks Fire burning near Prescott is now 83% contained at just over 9,400 acres. Many evacuations have been lifted. Tunnel Fire is close to full containment.
