Senate Bill Would Bar Driver License Suspensions For Unpaid Traffic Violations

The Arizona Legislature has approved a measure that would restrict the state from suspending an individual’s driver license due to unpaid civil traffic violations. The protection applies to drivers with a non-commercial license. S.B. 1551 was proposed by Sen. Paul Boyer and received bipartisan support. The legislation will now head to Gov. Doug Ducey’s desk to be signed into law.

Winter Weather Advisory For Flagstaff, Williams, Kaibab Plateau

Law enforcement officials in Yavapai County discovered $200,000 worth of fentanyl pills and methamphetamine last week in three separate stops on the same day.

YSCO deputies say they first detained a man from Camp Verde; he was allegedly carrying more than 100 fentanyl pills, along with methamphetamine and heroin. In a subsequent traffic stop, officials pulled over a man from Phoenix and found 10 pounds of methamphetamine, along with an estimated 10,000 fentanyl pills.

The Yavapai Regional Medical Center in late February resumed elective procedures after cancelling them for more than two months to manage a surge of COVID-19 patients. The delay, along with other pauses throughout the state, had consequences for many awaiting medical treatment.
